Rejuvenating Matcha smoothie


Prep Notes

Blend together milk, matcha, frozen banana and Ashwagandha or Reishi powder. If you prefer a bit sweeter version, add a dollop of honey. Enjoy!

Ingredients

1 cup almond milk (any plant based milk will do)

1 frozen banana

1 teaspoon of matcha powder

1 teaspoon of Ashwagandha or Reishi powder (not crucial if you do not have)

A dollop of honey if necessary

Notes

Matcha powder is finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea leaves. It is special in two aspects of farming and processing: the green tea plants for matcha are shade-grown for about three weeks before harvest and their stems and veins are removed before processing. During shaded growth, the plant produced more theanine and caffeine, so matcha is much higher in these substances than normal green tea.

Ashwagandha is one of the most powerful herbs in Ayurvedic healing. It is most well-known for its restorative and rejuvenating benefits. Traditionally, ashwagandha has been prescribed as a nerve tonic and adaptogen - an agent which helps the body to adapt various emotional and physical stressors.

Reishi powder is a grind powder of a reishi mushroom, which contain powerful healing properties that boost your immune system and support healthy hormone production. Mushroom has also anti-viral and anti-inflammatory function tp support healthy liver and cholesterol levels. It has been found that reishi mushroom has powerful anti-cancer benefits.
